Bali Aga, Tenganan Village – Karangasem

Tenganan Village is one of the oldest Balinese village located in Karangasem Regency, east of Bali. Before the 1970s, it was regarded as one of the most secluded societies of the archipelago as there are strict protocols as to who is allowed to live in the village. Today, having opened up to tourism, the village is a source of attraction due to its unique Bali Aga culture that still holds to the original traditions, ceremonies and rules of ancient Balinese, as well as its peculiar village layout and architecture.

The Ketemu team made the trip to Tenganan Village to check out how such living cultural tourism is presented in Bali today.
